FXBG Film Festival
Move over, Cannes and Telluride. From May 2-5, the streets and venues of Downtown Fredericksburg will play host to an exciting event of cinematic creativity: the first annual Fredericksburg Film Festival (FFF).
With over 30 film selections, both shorts and features, FFF will be held all around downtown, with screenings at 718 Venue, REIGN The Venue, and Red Dragon Brewery. FFF will also hold non-screening events, including workshops and panels and local businesses These events are of course in addition to the wonderful Happy Hours and After Parties, where you can mingle and network with filmmakers and film-lovers
Film selections include not only innovative local shorts and features, but award-winning films from top ten festivals, including the recent Grand Jury Prize winner for Best Short Film at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival: The Masterpiece by Alex Lora Cercos. Some of the other selections include documentaries such as The Lives Between the Lines by Erik Duda, a documentary about the Memorial to Enslaved Laborers at the University of Virginia, and Abundance: The Farmlink Story by Owen Dubeck, about a group of college students who focused on providing food to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. FFF will also feature some incredible film by Virginia filmmakers, including the features Her Name Was Jo by Joe Duca and Burst the Silence by Eric D. Schaeffer, as well as the short films Tyndall Typewriters by Theodore Adams III and The Death of Anne Bronte by Kathleen Barth.
These transformative local films are complimented by a number of revered, award-winning pieces such as DAEDALUS by Katerina Munis (winner of Best Director at Beverly Hills Film Festival), Oddities by Tyler Savage, and Banana Triangle Six by Marc Crandall. These films have made a tremendous impact at festivals throughout the country, and we cannot wait for them to be screened in Fredericksburg. FFF has shaped up to include a mixture of incredible local, nationwide, and international films; including three films from Fredericksburg filmmakers. In its first year, FFF features one of the best lineups for film festivals in Virginia.
Guests of FFF can either purchase individual tickets to film screenings and other events, or the All-Access Pass.
