After 15 years in business, Blue & Grey Brewing Co. founder Jeff Fitzpatrick has decided to move on. He’s sold his Spotsylvania County-based brewing company to Stafford-based Adventure Brewing.

Blue & Grey Brewing Co. opened in March 2002, one of the first microbreweries in the region. It’s since grown to include a restaurant, The Blue & Gray Brewpub.

Stafford residents Tom Bornholta, Stan Johnson and John Viarella opened Adventure Brewing in May 2014, when the three long-time home brewers decided to collaborate on the business. They also formed the Stafford Brewers Club, a local organization dedicated to the creation and sharing of home brewed craft beer.

The purchase will enable Adventure Brewing to expand their beer making. “We are excited to announce our big expansion plans for Adventure Brewing Company,” they said on Facebook. “Look for more of our beers in the market as we ramp up our production over the coming months.”

Adventure Brewing is located at 33 Perchwood Dr. in Stafford. Tasting room hours are
Monday – Friday, 3:30 – 10 p.m.
Saturday, 12 – 10 p.m.
Sunday, 12 – 6 p.m.

The Blue & Gray Brewpub at 3300 Dill Smith Dr. will continue its winter hours — 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday — while federal and state licensing changes are processed.
