The Fredericksburg Grizzlies will hold their second round of tryouts at 2 p.m. June 26, 2016.

The Grizzlies, Fredericksburg’s new American Basketball Association (ABA) semi-professional team, plan to begin their first season in November.

Sunday’s tryouts will be held at King George High School, 10100 Foxes Way in King George, Va. Pre-registration ($60) is required, and includes the opportunity to be seen by team executives and coaches. To register, and for more information visit Fredericksburg Grizzlies on Eventbrite. You must be 18 or older.

If you were invited back after the first tryout, please contact Marina Fox — [email protected] — to let her know whether or not you will be attending the June 26 tryout.

Local residents Vincent and Karen Henderson reportedly purchased the franchise for $10,000. “We are committed to showcasing exceptional talent while providing affordable, family-friendly entertainment to this area,” they said on the teams webpage. “Community service is a key and vital part of our mission, and we will work tirelessly in our community to make positive changes in Fredericksburg and nearby areas.”

Rick Wright is the team’s coach. Wright is a Ganon Baker certified trainer. He directed the Fredericksburg Runnin’ Rebels Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), and was formerly coach of the Fredericksburg Academy Falcons.

The schedule of games and home venue are still being determined.
