Sale of Former Sammy T’s Finalized
The purchase of the former Sammy T’s restaurant in downtown Fredericksburg has been finalized, according to Ben Keddie, vice president and managing broker for Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite. Keddie represented the investors who purchased the property for $860,000.
“After renovations, the purchaser will be leasing out the first floor restaurant, as well as the two apartments above,” Keddie said. Renovations are underway.
“Any interested tenants should contact me, but we are in negotiations to lease out the restaurant, so hopefully we’ll be making an announcement on that soon.”

Fredericksburg Festival for the Performing Arts Changes Names
Fredericksburg Festival for the Performing Arts has changed its name to Arts Live! The group is the longest continuously active performing arts nonprofit organization in the Fredericksburg region. They are celebrating their 30th anniversary of promoting and supporting the performing arts — theatre, dance, choral and instrumental music.
FredXchange Continues Open Coffee Meetups
After announcing the group would take a break during the month of December, FredXchange (FredX) said they’ve found a host for Open Coffee while The Foundry undergoes renovations. The Open Coffee meet-up will be held from 8 – 9:30 a.m. on Fridays at Catalyst Media, 3451 Jefferson Davis Hwy., in Fredericksburg. FredX Board Member Andrew Curtis said the group is still looking for new leadership, and that for now Open Coffee will feature roundtable discussions. “There will be no defined organizer at this time, just an open discussion to talk anything startup related,” he said.

Rebuilding Together-Fredericksburg Repairs Homes to Two Local Veterans
The Fredericksburg affiliate of Rebuilding Together recently finished critical repairs to the homes of two local disabled veterans: Paul Curry, a 92-year-old World War II veteran and Pearl
Harbor survivor, and Iraq War veteran Thomas Prestidge. Together-Fredericksburg, Lowe’s, and several highly skilled local builders collaborated on the projects, which were partly funded by a $15,000 grant Lowe’s awarded to Rebuilding Together-Fredericksburg in September.
Fredericksburg Realtors Foundation Awards $18K in Grants
The Fredericksburg Realtors Foundation, the charitable giving arm of the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtors, has awarded $18,971 in grants for 2016. These grants support area nonprofit organizations that help individuals and families secure or retain quality, affordable housing. The foundation made the following awards: Beauty for Ashes Women and Children’s Home: $2,000; S.E.R.V.E.: $750; Loisann’s Hope House: $2,381; Mary’s Shelter: $5,000; Homes for Our Troops: $1,250; Thurman Brisben Center: $5,320; Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity: $2,270.
