Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Monday Night into Tuesday

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Fredericksburg area, beginning 7 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017.

Snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 5 inches is expected, with the highest amounts in the northern and western portions of the area.

Snow will overspread the area Monday evening and persist through Tuesday morning. Sleet will mix in late Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Drivers should be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities.

Detailed Forecast
Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 45. Southeast wind 7 to 11 mph.

Monday Night: Rain and snow before 9 p.m., then rain, snow, and sleet between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., then snow and sleet after 2 a.m. Low around 32. East wind 8 to 13 mph, becoming north after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday: Snow before 2 p.m., then a chance of snow showers after 2 p.m. High near 39. North wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
