Strangeways Brewing to open June 23

by | Jun 9, 2017 | Business, Wine, Beer & Spirits

Strangeways Brewing will open its doors to its Fredericksburg expansion at 350 Lansdowne Road for a grand opening weekend starting Friday, June 23 through Sunday, June 25, 2017.

After months of renovating the former Burton’s Menswear warehouse space, Strangeways Brewing’s Fredericksburg location is set to open to the public. The tasting room and brewery occupy 10,000 square feet and include a state of the art 10-barrel brewing system, a 100-foot one-of-a-kind U-shaped bar, a private lounge, an arcade, an additional private event space to accommodate small and large groups, a newly constructed patio with 30-foot outside bar, and plenty of strange decor not to be missed.  The 2.5-million-dollar investment will support Virginia agriculture and tourism, provide approximately 25 full and part-time jobs to local residents, and enhance Fredericksburg’s growing craft beer scene.  Additionally, Strangeways plans to support local small businesses by offering their packaged food products and art for sale in the tasting room.

Fredericksburg is the hometown of Neil Burton, the founder and owner of Strangeways Brewing and a graduate of James Monroe High School.  Burton said: “We are beyond thrilled to be bringing what we think is a truly unique tasting room experience to the Fredericksburg community.  The craft beer scene has been exploding in this market, and we are excited to help support that growth.  With the addition of Matty Eck, our talented new head brewer for our Fredericksburg location, we are poised to delight our guests with a whole new lineup of exquisitely peculiar beers, alongside many of our perennial customer favorites.  We have 48 taps inside and 48 taps outside that will be filled with a plethora of different beers to please nearly every palate.  We designed this concept to be unlike anything else around, and we hope you will join us to experience for yourself what is shear madness or perhaps genius, you be the judge.”

Strangeways Brewing’s Fredericksburg Grand Opening Weekend Celebration will include a new beer release each day throughout the weekend, food trucks, outdoor games, music, merchandise sales, mystery, intrigue, and more.

Hours of operation for the Grand Opening Weekend Celebration are:

Friday, June 23 – 11am-11pm

Saturday, June 24 – 11am-11pm

Starting Monday, June 26, Strangeways Brewing’s tasting room will be open 7 days a week:

This is the second location for Strangeways Brewing, which opened in Henrico County in 2013.  The Richmond-based brewery will continue to produce beers on the 20-barrel system, and operate its award-winning tasting room.
