Route 607 closing in Essex County

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will begin work to replace the existing metal culvert located on Route 607 (Cheaney’s Bridge Road) in Essex County near the King and Queen County line.

The existing metal culvert will be replaced with a new concrete drainage culvert.

Route 607 (Cheaney’s Mill) will be closed to through traffic between Route 612 (Bestland Road) in Essex County and Route 617 (Providence Road) in King and Queen County. The road closure will begin near Jones Bridge Road.

Work is expected to be complete by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29.

Motorists should use the most convenient alternate route while work is underway.
