Spotsylvania County’s Economic Development and Tourism Department is partnering with the Virginia
Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD) to provide a free educational course aimed at
helping Spotsylvania businesses grow.
The class will take place September 27th from 12pm-2pm and will focus on helping small businesses position
themselves to market goods and services to the Commonwealth of Virginia. It will be taught by Courtney Mustin,
the SBSD’s Business Services Manager for Central Virginia/West.
Every year, state agencies buy over $8 billion worth of products. Ms. Mustin will provide businesses with a
comprehensive overview on the two key processes business owners need to complete in order to be positioned to
conduct business with state and many local government agencies. The class will also include a general
explanation of how orders are solicited, how they are bid by vendors and how contracts/purchase orders are
awarded and issued. The presentation will give those in attendance a clear understanding of the general
procurement process at the state agency level.
Pre-registration is required and attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch to this free event which will be held in
Meeting Room A at the Salem Church Library. Register online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/selling-to-thecommonwealth-of-virginia-seminar-tickets-37924532297?aff=es2
