Another Day walkers to support suicide prevention

by | Oct 6, 2017 | Around Town, Events, Health & Wellness

The Another Day walk to remember those who died by suicide and to support suicide prevention efforts will be returning to Spotsylvania Oct. 21.

The walk, held by Mental Health America of Fredericksburg, will be at Spotsylvania Courthouse. On-site registration starts at 9 am, and the walk begins at 10.

The event includes food, a silent auction, speakers and a memory wall where people can share memories of friends and family lost to suicide. Registration is free–MHAF accepts donation pledges before the event and collects donations at the walk.

All of the funds raised at the event are earmarked for suicide prevention programs in the Fredericksburg area, including suicide prevention education in local middle and high schools. MHAF has educated thousands of 7th and 9th graders in Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg schools with the program, and is trying to raise money to expand the program to other area school districts.
