Interstate 95 (Exit 140/Courthouse Road)

Work is underway on a project to improve the I-95 interchange at Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road). The project includes building a diverging diamond interchange at Exit 140, relocating the Courthouse Road and Route 1 intersection to the south to align with Hospital Center Boulevard, and widening Courthouse Road to four lanes from Cedar Lane to Ramoth Church Road.

Interstate 95 Northbound
(New) Tuesday – Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. A single right lane on I-95 northbound will be closed near Exit 140 to allow crews to install temporary concrete barrier and crash cushions near the interchange. Expect brief delays. All lanes will re-open by 4:30 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Interstate 95 Southbound
(New) Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. A single right lane on I-95 southbound will be closed near Exit 140 to allow crews to install temporary concrete barrier and crash cushions near the interchange. Expect brief delays. All lanes will re-open at 10 a.m. Friday.

Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137
The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137.

· I-95 Northbound: Monday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
9 p.m. – one lane closed
10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
All lanes re-open at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday

· I-95 Southbound: Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
9 p.m. – one lane closed
10 p.m. – 6 a.m. – two lanes closed
All lanes re-open at 4:30 a.m. Thursday

Spotsylvania County: I-95 Bridge over Ni River at mile marker 121
The I-95 bridges over the Ni River are located just south of Exit 126/Massaponax at mile marker 121.

I-95 Northbound: Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m.
9 p.m. – one lane closed
10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
All lanes re-open by 4:30 a.m. the following morning

I-95 Southbound: Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. and Friday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m.
9 p.m. – one lane closed
10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
4:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. one lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. the following morning, except on Saturday morning, when lanes will re-open by 6 a.m.

Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project

Construction is underway to improve safety on Interstate 95 and Route 3 at the Exit 130 interchange in Fredericksburg. Motorists should be prepared for the following lane closures, construction activity, and temporary traffic shifts on Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or Central Park shopping area.

Interstate 95 Northbound

(New) Tuesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m. A single left lane on northbound I-95 will be blocked near the interchange to allow crews to install temporary pavement markings as part of the project. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Exit 130B (Route 3/Fredericksburg)
(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Wednesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. and Thursday ˗˗ Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane on the off-ramp overnight at Exit 130 from I-95 southbound to westbound Route 3 for water and sewer line work.

Route 3 (Plank Road)
(New) Tuesday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 9 a.m. A single right lane on Route 3 eastbound will be blocked to allow crews to work safely. Expect brief delays.

Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project

Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.

Interstate 95 Northbound at Exit 118
(New) Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. A single left lane will be blocked at the interchange for construction activities. Expect brief delays.

Interstate 95 Bridge Inspection

Stafford County: Exit 133 (Falmouth)
(New) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be inspecting both I-95 bridges over Route 17 at Exit 133 (Falmouth). Expect alternating lane closures near the interchange and brief delays.

Stafford County Work Zones

Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway)
(New) Monday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Expect a single right lane to be closed on Route 1 southbound near Guinns Lane and Woodstock Lane to Telegraph Road for a paving operation. Expect brief delays.

Route 218 (Butler Road)
(New) Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on Butler Road near Chatham Heights Road for traffic signal work. Expect brief delays.

Route 17 at I-95 Interchange
(New) Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on Route 17 from Sanford Drive to Short Street to allow crews to inspect the I-95 bridges. Expect brief delays.

Route 17 Southbound
Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on Route 17 southbound near Geico Boulevard, Stafford Lakes Parkway, Village Parkway and University Boulevard for turn lane construction. Expect brief delays.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Friday, 8 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Motorists can expect alternating single lane closures overnight on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) from Shelton Shop Road to Furnace Road for a milling and paving operation. Motorists may experience a rough travel surface and bumps. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. each morning.

Sunday ˗˗ Tuesday, 8 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Motorists can expect alternating single lane closures overnight on Route 610 from Mine Road to the I-95 interchange for a milling and paving operation. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) at Shenandoah Lane
Wednesday ˗˗ Sunday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Motorists can expect alternating single lane closures overnight on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) from Shenandoah Lane to Travis Lane for a milling and paving operation. This work is connected to the Stafford County widening of Garrisonville Road.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road)
Tuesday ˗˗ Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane and Monument Drive for clearing/trimming trees, installing concrete barrier and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. Expect delays.

Routine Maintenance
Tuesday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

Fall Hill Avenue
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Expect a single lane closure on Fall Hill Avenue near Heritage Park Drive to allow crews to repair damaged sidewalk. Expect brief delays.

Mary Washington Boulevard
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Expect a single right lane to be blocked on eastbound Mary Washington Boulevard from the Fall Hill Avenue traffic circle to Hospital Drive to allow crews to make repairs to the retaining wall. Expect brief delays.

Spotsylvania County Work Zones

Route 1

(New) Tuesday, midnight ˗˗ 2 a.m. Crews will be working on utility lines on Route 1 near the Harrison Road intersection. Expect a rolling closure of southbound and northbound Route 1 lanes near the intersection up to approximately 15 minutes at a time.

Route 17

(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on southbound Route 17 (Mills Drive) near Robert E. Lee Drive, Massaponax Church Road and Jennings Lane for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers through the intersection and work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 643 (Haley’s Mill Road)

(New) Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Haley’s Mill Road for a paving operation. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 649 (Seays Road) CLOSED

Seays Road is closed to through traffic to replace a structurally deficient bridge over Glady Run. The bridge is located between Robert E. Lee Drive and Mastin Lane. A detour will be in place along the recommended detour route, which is approximately ten miles. The bridge is anticipated to be closed until mid-November 2017.

Subdivision Street Paving

Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m .˗˗ 5 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations in several neighborhoods in the Lee’s Hill area off Mine Road for a paving operation. Crews will be paving in Watford Village, Cavalry Ridge and Lee’s Crossing subdivisions. This project will improve the ride for motorists and enhance the condition of the streets with new asphalt. Expect brief delays.

Caroline County Work Zones

Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard)
(New) Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on Rogers Clark Boulevard for a mobile paving operation on southbound and northbound lanes. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 301 Southbound
Monday − Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on southbound Route 301 near Dry Bridge Road and Burkes Bridge Road for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Tuesday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

Wednesday, 6:30 a.m. ˗˗ 6:30 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Route 301 northbound and southbound at the bridge over the Rappahannock River for the bridge rehabilitation project. Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.

Essex County Work Zones

Secondary Route Paving
(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Saturday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on various low-volume secondary routes throughout Essex County for a paving operation. Routes to be surfaced treated include: 609, 612, 619, 627, 659, 691, 716 and 717.

Gloucester County Work Zones

Secondary Route Paving
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on various low-volume secondary routes throughout Gloucester County for a paving operation. Routes to be surfaced treated include: 605, 618, 710, 730 and 731.

Route 616 (Belroi Road)
Monday − Friday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on Belroi Road near Route 17 (George Washington Memorial Highway) for utility and permit work. Crews will be replacing utility poles. Expect brief delays.

King George County Work Zone

Route 3
(Update) Monday − Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect single, alternating lane closures on westbound Route 3 between Port Conway Road and Comorn Road for a milling and paving operation. On eastbound Route 3, crews will be paving near Lambs Creek Church Road to the bridge over Lambs Creek. Motorists may experience a rough travel surface and bumps. Expect brief delays near the work zone.

King George County Restriping
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on various primary and secondary routes throughout King George County. Crews are restriping existing line markings on various roads. Motorists should expect slow moving construction equipment and delays near the mobile work zone. Motorists are encouraged to avoid crossing over freshly painted lines. The paint will be wet and may adhere to vehicle. The mobile work zone will periodically pull over to allow congestion to clear. Multiple routes include: 3, 205, 206, 218, 301, 619, 630, 639, 721, 1202, and 1239.

King and Queen County Work Zones

Secondary Route Paving
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on various, low-volume secondary routes throughout King and Queen County for a paving operation. Routes to be surfaced treated include: 619, 631, 633, and 634.

Route 611 (Tastine Road) CLOSED
Tastine Road is closed to through traffic while crews replace the existing underground culverts. Crews are replacing three culverts located under Tastine Road at Tastine Swamp. The existing corrugated metal pipes will be upgraded to reinforced concrete pipes. Motorists should use the most convenient alternate route while work is underway.

King William County Work Zone

Route 721
(Update) Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Expect alternating one-way traffic on Route 721 at the bridge over Chapel Hill Swamp to allow crews to repair the bridge. Expect brief delays.

King William County Restriping
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on various primary and secondary routes throughout King William County. Crews are restriping existing line markings on various roads. Motorists should expect slow moving construction equipment and delays near the mobile work zone. Motorists are encouraged to avoid crossing over freshly painted lines. The paint will be wet and may adhere to vehicle. The mobile work zone will periodically pull over to allow congestion to clear. Routes include: 14, 33, 360, 605, 608, 610, 614, 619, 620, 621, 631, 633 and 634.

Lancaster County/Middlesex County Work Zone

Route 3 and Robert O. Norris Bridge
(New) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Scheduled bridge inspection. Single lane closure. Drivers will encounter one-way, alternating traffic on the bridge controlled by automatic flagging stations. The temporary traffic signals on the bridge for the painting project will be placed in flash mode during the work zone.

Route 3 and Robert O. Norris Bridge
(Update) Tuesday – Thursday, 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Structural steel repairs. Drivers will encounter one-way, alternating traffic on the bridge controlled by temporary traffic signals. For several 15-minute periods overnight, all traffic will be stopped to allow crews to heat and straighten overhead steel.

Middlesex County Work Zone

Route 17
(Update) Tuesday ˗˗ Saturday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Expect single, alternating lane closures on northbound Route 17 near Mt. Zion Road for a paving operation. Expect brief delays.

Northumberland County Work Zone

Route 360 at Academic Lane
Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3 p.m. Motorists can expect alternating, single lane closures and flagging operations at the intersection of Route 360 (Northumberland Highway) and Academic Lane as work continues to improve and widen the intersection.

Richmond County Work Zone

Route 360 Eastbound
(Update) Monday − Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on eastbound Route 360 near the Downing Bridge to Newland Road for a paving operation. Expect brief delays.

Route 608 (Farham Creek Road)
(New) Monday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on the bridge over Farham Creek for bridge repairs. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Westmoreland County Work Zones

Westmoreland County Restriping
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on various primary and secondary routes throughout Westmoreland County. Crews are restriping existing line markings on various roads. Motorists should expect slow moving construction equipment and delays near the mobile work zone. Motorists are encouraged to avoid crossing over freshly painted lines. The paint will be wet and may adhere to vehicle. The mobile work zone will periodically pull over to allow congestion to clear. Routes include: 205 and 631.

Route 642 (Baynesville Road) CLOSED
Baynesville Road is closed to through traffic to allow crews to replace a structurally deficient bridge over the Big Swamp. The bridge is located between Rt. 3 (Kings Highway) and Route 691 (Northernmost Road). A detour is in place along the recommended detour, which is approximately nine miles to include Flat Iron Road and Route 3. The bridge is anticipated to remain closed through mid-November 2017.
