Interstate 95 Paving

Interstate 95 Northbound On-Ramp at Route 17 CLOSED
(New) Sunday ˗˗ Monday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Paving will close the Interstate 95 northbound entrance ramp from Route 17 northbound in Stafford. During the closure, Route 17 northbound traffic should proceed to the intersection of Route 17 and Sanford Drive, where motorists can make a U-turn to access Route 17 southbound. From Route 17 southbound, traffic can enter the I-95 northbound on-ramp at Exit 133. Message boards will be posted to notify drivers of the upcoming ramp closure.

Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Aquia Creek at mile marker 145
The I-95 bridges over Aquia Creek are located just after Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville) at mile marker 145.
· I-95 Northbound: Monday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

o Expect alternating, single lane closures.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137
The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137.
­ I-95 Southbound: Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
­ 9 p.m. – one lane closed
­ 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
­ 4:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. one lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. the following morning

Spotsylvania County: I-95 Bridge over Ni River at mile marker 121
The I-95 bridges over the Ni River are located just south of Exit 126/Massaponax at mile marker 121.
­ I-95 Northbound: Monday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m.
o ­ 9 p.m. – one lane closed

o ­ 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed

o ­ All lanes re-open by 4:30 a.m. the following morning

­ I-95 Southbound: Monday – Tuesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m.
o 9 p.m. – one lane closed

o ­ 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed

o 4:30 a.m. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning. ­

Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project

Construction is underway to improve safety on Interstate 95 and Route 3 at the Exit 130 interchange in Fredericksburg. Motorists should be prepared for the following lane closures, construction activity, and temporary traffic shifts on Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or Central Park shopping area.

I-95 Southbound at Exit 130
(New) Sunday ˗˗ Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 1 p.m. The Exit 130 off-ramp will be reduced to a single lane from I-95 southbound to Route 3 westbound at Carl D. Silver Parkway. All lanes will reopen at 1 p.m. the following day except on Friday at 6 a.m. Expect brief delays at the interchange.

I-95 Northbound at Exit 130
(Update) Sunday, 12 a.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m. and Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4:30 a.m. The on-ramp carrying traffic from westbound Route 3 to I-95 northbound will be narrowed to allow crews to work safely along the shoulder of the ramp. Drivers should be alert to construction crews and equipment working along the shoulder of the ramp.

Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park Entrance CLOSURE)
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Tuesday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 7 a.m. All northbound lanes on Carl D. Silver Parkway at Route 3 will be closed to allow crews to remove a concrete island at the intersection. Traffic will not be permitted to enter the Central Park shopping area. Signs will guide traffic along the detour route to Central Park Boulevard.

Route 3 Westbound
Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 9 a.m. A single, right lane will be closed on Route 3 westbound near the interchange.

Route 3 Eastbound
Sunday ˗˗ Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 4 a.m. A single, right lane will be closed on Route 3 eastbound near the interchange.

Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project

Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.

Interstate 95 Southbound at Exit 118
(New) Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. A single, left lane on I-95 southbound will be closed at the interchange for construction activities. Expect brief delays.

Interstate 95 Northbound at Exit 118
Monday – Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. A single, left lane I-95 northbound will be closed at the interchange for construction activities. Expect brief delays.

Stafford County Work Zones

Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway)
(New) Sunday ˗˗ Saturday, 4:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Expect a right lane closed on southbound Route 1 near Jumping Branch Road for turn lane construction. Expect brief delays.

Route 3 Westbound Business
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect a single lane closure on Route 3 westbound near the flyover to Blue Gray Parkway for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays near the work zone.

Route 218 (Butler Road)
(Update) Monday ˗˗ Wednesday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Butler Road between Chatham Heights Road and Cool Springs Road to allow crews to make repairs to the bridge over CSX railroad tracks. Expect brief delays.

Route 607 (Deacon Road)
(New) Monday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m., Expect a single lane closure on Deacon Road between Ridge Pointe Lane and Woodlawn Terrace for sidewalk ramp and crosswalk work. Expect brief delays near the work zone.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) at Shenandoah Lane
Sunday ˗˗ Saturday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Motorists can expect alternating, single lane closures overnight on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) from Shenandoah Lane to Travis Lane for a milling and paving operation. This work is connected to the Stafford County widening of Garrisonville Road.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road)
Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane and Monument Drive for clearing/trimming trees, installing concrete barrier and pipe work as part of the widening project.

Route 1389 (Ridge Pointe Lane)
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Ridge Pointe Lane near Deacon Road for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays near the work zone.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

Route 649 (Seays Road) OPEN
Seays Road is now open to traffic after crews replaced a structurally deficient bridge over Glady Run with a new concrete structure on new concrete abuntments. The bridge is located between Robert E. Lee Drive and Mastin Lane.

Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

Route 17 (Tidewater Trail)
(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating single lane closures on northbound Route 17 (Tidewater Trail) near Snowden Road for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays near the work zone.

Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard)
(New) Monday − Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Rogers Clark Boulevard near the I-95 interchange for traffic engineering work. Expect brief delays.

(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 360 eastbound near Manfield Road and at the Moncuin Creek Bridge for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays.

Lancaster County/Middlesex County Work Zone

Route 3 and Robert O. Norris Bridge Temporary Weight Limit Posting
A temporary 15-ton weight limit is in effect on the Norris Bridge. The limit is estimated to be in place for 30 days while VDOT pursues rapid replacement of two pins on the bridge that were found to have abnormalities during a recent inspection. Westmoreland County Work Zone

Route 642 (Baynesville Road) CLOSED
Baynesville Road is closed to through traffic to allow crews to replace a structurally deficient bridge over the Big Swamp. The bridge is located between Rt. 3 (Kings Highway) and Route 691 (Northernmost Road). A detour is in place along the recommended detour, which is approximately nine miles to include Flat Iron Road and Route 3. The bridge is anticipated to remain closed through mid-November 2017.
