Small plane crashes in Hanover

On November 29, 2017 (Wednesday), at approximately 3:42 p.m., the Virginia State Police responded to reports of a small plane crash at River Rd. and Williamsville Rd. in Hanover County.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the pilot, Merlin Wayne Myers, 77, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, had to make an emergency landing due to mechanical issues with the engine.
In the course of the landing, the plane sustained significant damage and rested upside down in a field. Myers sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The FAA was notified and responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
