District-wide Replacement of Lens in Snow Plowable Markers

(New) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 8 a.m. ˗˗ 6 p.m. Motorists should anticipate lane closures or alternating traffic with flagging operations on various primary routes. Crews are replacing the lens in snow plowable markers on various roads throughout the district. Motorists should expect slow moving construction equipment and delays near the mobile work zone. The mobile work zone will periodically pull over to allow congestion to clear.

Stafford County

  • Route 17 Northbound and Southbound (Village Parkway to Fauquier County line)
  • Route 3 Eastbound (Blue and Grey Parkway to King George County line)

King George County

  • Route 301 Northbound ( Salem Church Road to Dahlgren Road)
  • Route 3 Eastbound and Westbound (Route 301 to Westmoreland County line)

 

Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project

Construction is underway to improve safety on Interstate 95 and Route 3 at the Exit 130 interchange in Fredericksburg. Motorists should be prepared for the following lane closures, construction activity, and temporary traffic shifts on Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or Central Park shopping area.

Exit 130B Off-Ramp

Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday ˗˗ 6 a.m. Friday The Exit 130 off-ramp will be reduced to a single lane from I-95 southbound to Route 3 westbound at Carl D. Silver Parkway. All lanes will reopen at 1 p.m. the following day except on Friday, when all lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. Expect brief delays at the interchange.

I-95 Northbound at Exit 130

(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m. The on-ramp carrying traffic from westbound Route 3 to I-95 northbound will be narrowed to allow crews to work safely along the shoulder of the ramp. Drivers should be alert to construction crews and equipment working along the shoulder of the ramp.

Route 3 Westbound

(New) Sunday ˗˗ Thursday, 10 p.m. ˗˗ 9 a.m. Expect a single, right lane on westbound Route 3 to be closed for utility work overnight until the 9 a.m. the following morning . Motorists will still be able to enter Central Park by accessing Carl D. Silver Parkway. Expect brief, overnight delays.

 

Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Aquia Creek at mile marker 145

The I-95 bridges over Aquia Creek are located just after Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville) at mile marker 145.

  • I-95 Southbound:
  • Monday – Friday, 9 m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
  • 9 p.m. – one lane closed
  • 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
  • 4:30 a.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. the following morning except on Friday when all lanes will reopen at 6 a.m.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137

The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137.

  • I-95 Northbound:
  • Monday – Tuesday, 9:30 m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
  • Expect alternating, single lane closures.

Spotsylvania County: I-95 Bridge over Ni River at mile marker 121

The I-95 bridges over the Ni River are located just south of Exit 126/Massaponax at mile marker 121.

I-95 Northbound:

  • Monday –Thursday, 9:30 a.m. ˗˗ 3:30 p.m.
  • Daytime shoulder closure o Monday –Friday, 9 m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
  • 9 p.m. – one lane closed
  • 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
  • All lanes will reopen at 4:30 a.m.

I-95 Southbound:

  • Monday –Friday, 9 m. ˗˗ 10 a.m.
  • 9 p.m. – one lane closed
  • 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
  • 4:30 a.m. ˗˗ 10 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 10 a.m. the following morning except on Friday when all lanes will reopen at 6 a.m.

 

Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project

Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.

Interstate 95 Northbound at Exit 118

Monday Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. A single, left lane on I-95 northbound will be closed at the interchange for construction activities. Expect brief delays.

Interstate 95 Southbound at Exit 118

Monday Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. A single, left lane on I-95 southbound will be closed at the interchange for construction activities. Expect brief delays.

Interstate 95 Southbound Off-Ramp

Monday Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The Exit 118 off-ramp which carries traffic from I-95 southbound to Mudd Tavern Road will be reduced to a single lane for storm sewer installation. Drivers should be alert to construction crews and equipment working in the right lane and right shoulder of the ramp. Expect brief delays at the interchange.

Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)

Monday Thursday, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Mudd Tavern Road near the Exit 118 interchange for storm sewer installation. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

 

Stafford County Work Zones

Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway)

(New) Sunday ˗˗ Monday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Expect alternating lane closures on Route 1 northbound and southbound at the Falmouth Bridge to allow crews to make repairs overnight. Expect brief delays.

Route 3 Westbound Business

Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect a single lane closure on Route 3 westbound near the flyover to Blue Gray Parkway for guardrail repair. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone Expect brief delays near the work zone.

Route 626 (Leeland Road)

(New) Saturday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Expect alternating, one way traffic on Leeland Road near Rice Road to allow crews to inspect the bridge. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road)

(New) Monday ˗˗ Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 2 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Wyche Road and Monument Drive for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Routine Maintenance

Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

  • Route 3 (Kings Highway) – shoulder repair and ditch cleaning
  • Route 608 (Brooke Road)ditch cleaning
  • Route 628 (Winding Creek Road)vegetation control

Spotsylvania County Work Zones

Interstate 95 Southbound at Exit 126/Massaponax

(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 7 a.m. A single lane on I-95 southbound at Exit 126/Massaponax will close at 9 p.m. to allow crews to make repairs to the bridge over Route 1 followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 7 a.m. Expect overnight delays.

Route 1 at Mudd Tavern Road

(Update) Monday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 5 p.m. and Monday ˗˗ Tuesday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Expect single, alternating lane closures on Route 1 near Mudd Tavern Road for traffic engineering work. Expect brief delays.

King William County Work Zone

Route 360 (Richmond Tappahannock Highway)

(New) Thursday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 12 p.m. Expect a single lane closed on Route 360 eastbound and westbound at the King William Road intersection to allow crews to take soil samples. Motorists should be aware of crew and construction equipment working in this mobile work zone. Expect brief delays.

Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 9 a.m. ˗˗ 4 p.m. Expect alternating, single lane closures on Route 360 eastbound near Mount Pleasants Road and at the Moncuin Creek Bridge for guardrail repair. Expect brief delays.

 

Lancaster County/Middlesex County Work Zone

Route 3 and Robert O. Norris Bridge

Temporary traffic signals are installed at the center spans of the Norris Bridge on Route 3 between Lancaster and Middlesex counties. Two temporary signals control one-way, alternating traffic at the bridge’s center spans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Crews are using the closed lane to paint the center spans of the bridge over the Rappahannock River. The signals will remain in place until the end of the painting project in June 2018.

 

Middlesex County Work Zone

Route 17 (Tidewater Trail)

(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Friday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Expect a single left lane to be closed on southbound Route 17 near Lovers Retreat Lane for sign repairs. Expect brief delays.
