Full traffic stops on I-95 in Stafford

Motorists should anticipate overnight delays and two total traffic stops on Interstate 95 northbound near Exit 143 in Stafford County tonight, March 14, to allow crews to remove an overhead sign.

From 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, crews will close two lanes on I-95 northbound near Exit 143A.

Tonight, two total traffic stops on I-95 northbound will occur between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.. Crews will close ALL lanes on I-95 northbound near Exit 143A for approximately 15 minutes each time.

The Exit 143A off-ramp from I-95 northbound to Route 1 will remain open but will be slightly narrowed with large equipment.

All lanes will reopen at 1 a.m. on Thursday, March 15.

The total traffic stops are needed to allow a crew operating a large crane to dismantle and remove an overhead sign structure near the Exit 143 interchange.

Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control.

Overhead message boards will warn drivers about the work zone and delays ahead.
