From VDOT

A scheduled annual inspection of the Downing Bridge in Tappahannock will require an overnight lane closure on Route 360 over the Rappahannock River on the evenings of Friday, April 27 through Wednesday, May 9.

Drivers can expect brief delays between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. beginning Friday evening. Weather permitting, the overnight lane closure will be in place each night through Wednesday, May 9.

One-way, alternating traffic on the bridge will be controlled by automated flagging stations.

Message boards will be posted at both bridge approaches to notify travelers about the upcoming bridge inspection and the potential for brief travel delays at night.

The Downing Bridge is located between Essex and Richmond counties.
