Districtwide Flashing Yellow Arrow Project

Monday – Friday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be working at the following intersections to install flashing yellow arrows at several traffic signals in the Fredericksburg District to help drivers turn left safely against oncoming traffic. Flaggers will direct drivers through the intersection. Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control. Expect brief delays near the following intersections.

Stafford County

o   Route 1 and Route 628 (American Legion Road) and (Eskimo Hill Road)

o   Route 1 and Route 2188 (Port Aquia Drive) and entrance to St. William of York Catholic Church

o   Route 1 and Acadia Street

o   Route 3 and Route 607 (Cool Springs Road) and Route 607 (Jett Drive)

o   Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 1205 (Patton Drive) and entrance to Mt. Ararat Baptist Church

o   Garrisonville Road and Route 1208 (Furnace Road) and (Tech Parkway)

o   Route 684 (Staffordboro Boulevard) and VDOT Park & Ride commuter lot entrance and entrance to Stafford Marketplace shopping center

o   Route 684 (Mine Road) and VDOT Park & Ride commuter lot entrance

o   Mine Road and Route 1482 (Northampton Boulevard)

Interstate 95 Pothole Repair

Interstate 95 Southbound

Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Mobile lane closures on I-95 southbound as needed for pothole repair. Crews will be working between the Prince William/Stafford line at mile marker 148 to the Caroline/Hanover line at mile marker 101.

Interstate 95 (Exit 140/Courthouse Road)

Work is underway to improve the I-95 interchange at Exit 140 (Route 630/Courthouse Road). The project includes building a diverging diamond interchange at Exit 140, relocating the Courthouse Road and Route 1 intersection to the south to align with Hospital Center Boulevard, and widening Courthouse Road to four lanes from Cedar Lane to Ramoth Church Road.

Interstate 95 Northbound

Monday – Tuesday9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Single lane closed on I-95 northbound from mile marker 139 to 141. Crews will shift traffic barrier. All lanes reopen by 4:30 a.m.

Interstate 95 Southbound

Wednesday – Thursday9 p.m. – 10 a.m. Single lane closed on I-95 southbound from mile marker 141 to 139. Crews will shift traffic barrier. Lane remains closed until 10 a.m.

Route 630 (Courthouse Road)

Monday – Thursday8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. –12 p.m. Courthouse Road will be reduced to one lane from Austin Ridge Drive to Red Oak Drive. Crews will be working near the I-95/Exit 140 interchange.

Monday – Thursday8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Friday8:30 a.m. –12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Courthouse Road between Cedar Lane and Walpole Street for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project.

Ramoth Church Road at Courthouse Road

Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Friday8:30 a.m. –12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Ramoth Church Road from Courthouse Road to Dog Patch Lane for grading and pipe work. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Winding Creek Road at Courthouse Road

Monday – Thursday9 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Friday9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Winding Creek Road for grading and pipe work as part of the widening project. Flaggers will direct drivers through the interchange and work zone. Expect brief delays.

Wyche Road at Courthouse Road

Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Friday8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Wyche Road at Courthouse Road to allow trucks to enter and exit the work zone. Flaggers will direct drivers at the intersection.

Interstate 95 Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Work is underway to improve the deck and substructure on several bridges located on I-95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania.

Stafford County: I-95 Bridge over Potomac Creek at mile marker 137

The I-95 bridges over Potomac Creek are located near Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) at mile marker 137. Drivers can expect lane closures at the following dates and times:

  • I-95 Northbound:

Monday –Thursday9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.

  • 9 p.m. – single lane closed
  • 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
  • 4:30 a.m. All lanes open

Friday, 9 p.m. – 7 a.m. Single lane closed

  • I-95 Southbound:

Monday – Thursday9 p.m. – 7 a.m.

  • 9 p.m. – single lane closed
  • 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. – two lanes closed
  • 4 – 7 a.m. – single lane closed (All lanes open at 6 a.m. Friday)

Friday9 p.m. – 7 a.m. Single lane closed

Interstate 95 Exit 130/Route 3/Fredericksburg Interchange Improvement Project

Construction is underway to modify the ramps and traffic pattern at the Interstate 95 and Route 3 (Exit 130) interchange in Fredericksburg to enhance safety. Motorists will encounter the following lane closures near Route 3, I-95 at Exit 130 and/or the Central Park shopping area.

Interstate 95 Northbound, Exit 130

Wednesday – Friday9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Single lane closure on I-95 northbound for removal of traffic barrier on the interstate shoulder.

Route 3 Westbound at Carl D. Silver Parkway

Sunday – Friday10 p.m. – 9 a.m. Left turn lane and right turn lane will be closed on Route 3 westbound at the Carl D. Silver Parkway intersection for median work and storm sewer pipe installation.

Route 3 Eastbound at Carl D. Silver Parkway

Sunday – Friday9 p.m. – 4 a.m. Left turn lane on Route 3 eastbound will be closed at Carl D. Silver Parkway for median construction.

Interstate 95 at Exit 118/Mudd Tavern Road Widening and Bridge Replacement Project

Crews are working to improve the interchange on Interstate 95 at Exit 118 (Mudd Tavern Road). The project will build a new I-95 overpass and improve on and off-ramps on Mudd Tavern Road, improve Mudd Tavern Road east of I-95, and Mallard Road.

Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road)

Monday – Thursday9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 606 (Mudd Tavern Road) at the I-95 overpass for interchange and bridge project construction and storm sewer installation. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Mallard Road

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Mallard Road for project construction and storm sewer installation. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.

Stafford County Work Zones

Route 17 Northbound

Sunday – Friday, 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. Expect a single lane and shoulder closure on Route 17 northbound near the I-95 interchange at Exit 133/Falmouth to allow crews to take soil samples for the upcoming Interstate 95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project. Construction on the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing begins in late summer 2018.

Route 8900 (Centreport Parkway)

Sunday – Monday8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Expect single, alternating lane closures on Centreport Parkway near the bridge approaches and on the bridges over I-95 for repairs. Expect brief delays.

Routine Maintenance

Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

 

Spotsylvania County Work Zone

Interstate 95 Southbound at Exit 126/Massaponax

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closed on I-95 southbound near Exit 126/Massaponax at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m. Crews continue repairs to the I-95 bridge over Route 1.

Route 1 Northbound and Southbound

Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closures on Route 1 northbound and southbound underneath the I-95 bridge for ongoing repairs.

Route 1 Northbound and Southbound

Sunday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. Expect mobile single lane closures on Route 1 northbound and southbound between Route 749 (Old Telegraph Road) and Route 711 (Southpoint Parkway) for milling and paving work. Expect temporary rough pavement and brief delays near the work zone. Virginia State Police assisting with traffic control.

Route 3 Westbound

Wednesday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. Expect mobile single lane closures on Route 3 westbound between Route 620 (Spotswood Furnace Road) and Montpelier Drive. Crews will be milling and paving. Expect temporary rough pavement and brief delays near the work zone.

Route 601 (Lawyers Road)

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Single lane closure for guardrail installation near Route 653 (Jones Powell Road) intersection.

Route 616 (US Ford Road)

Wednesday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 616 (US Ford Road) near Route 610 (Elys Ford Road) and Route 620 (Spotswood Furnace Road) for shoulder stone placement, pavement markings. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone.

Route 621 (Orange Plank Road)

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating, one-way traffic on Route 621 (Orange Plank Road) near Route 611 (Windy Acres Drive) and Route 613 (Brock Road) for pavement markings, placement of shoulder stone. Flaggers will direct traffic in the work zone.

Route 1234 (Falcon Drive)

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Single lane closure for guardrail installation near Carr Drive.

Routine Maintenance

Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

  • Route 1 – storm drain work
  • Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road) – vegetation control
  • Route 620 (Spotswood Furnace Road) – pipe replacements

 

Caroline County Work Zones

Route 301 Northbound

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Mobile single lane closures on Route 301 northbound near intersection with Route 608 (Lakewood Road). Crews will be patching the pavement and eradicating pavement markings ahead of upcoming paving work.

Routine Maintenance

Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

  • Route 1 – storm drain work
  • Route 207 (Rogers Clark Boulevard) – shoulder repairs, tree removal
  • Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike) – ditch cleaning
  • Route 602 (Concord Road) – ditch cleaning
  • Route 629 (Minarchi Road) – ditch cleaning
  • Route 658 (Jericho Road) – ditch cleaning
  • Route 1218 (Tinder Drive) – ditch cleaning

Caroline County/King George County Work Zone

Route 301 at Rappahannock River (James Madison Bridge)

Monday − Thursday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane on Route 301 northbound and southbound near the James Madison Bridge over the Rappahannock River for a bridge maintenance project. Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.

 

King George County Work Zone

Route 614 (Owens Drive)

Monday – Tuesday7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating one-way traffic on Route 614 (Owens Drive) between Route 301 and Mathias Point Road for milling and paving. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone. Expect brief delays.

Route 623 (Jersey Road)

Wednesday ˗˗Thursday7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect alternating one-way traffic on Route 623 (Jersey Road) between Shiloh Loop and Welcome Road for milling and paving. Flaggers will direct drivers in the work zone. Expect brief delays.
