The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office arrested three suspects last week following the theft of
over $1200 worth of cell phones from the Walmart located at 125 Washington Square Plaza.
On June 24, 2018, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Deputy T.A. Vasquez responded to the Walmart in reference
to a past occurred larceny. A loss prevention employee advised the deputy that on June 21, 2018, at
approximately 9:00 p.m., a male subject and two female subjects entered the store.
Shortly thereafter, the male subject took a Star Wars “Wookie” mask off the shelf and one of the females
grabbed a large black purse. They then headed to the electronics section and began filling the mask and purse with cell phones. They left the store with the stolen items and took off in a black sedan. The items included eight cell phones valued at over $1200.
Detectives were subsequently able to identify and locate the suspects through surveillance video footage and the tags on the suspect vehicle. They also discovered the cell phones had been pawned. The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
Patrick Robert Hawkins, 18, of Washington D.C. and Keely Juanita Johnson, 20, of Fredericksburg were
taken into custody on July 2, 2018. A large amount of cash and miscellaneous stolen items were discovered
during a subsequent search. Hawkins admitted to being in a shoplifting conspiracy with Johnson and a third
suspect, Tiearia Monique Laa’sh Bailey, 22, of Spotsylvania.
Johnson told detectives they had been stealing cell phones from Walmart stores throughout the
Fredericksburg region. She admitted the suspects pawned the cell phones and split the money between one
another.
Hawkins and Johnson were subsequently incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail. Hawkins is charged
with shoplifting, conspiracy, larceny with intent to sell, and enhanced penalty for a larceny third offense.
Johnson was charged with shoplifting, conspiracy, and larceny with intent to sell.
Bailey was taken into custody on July 3, 2018 and incarcerated at Rappahannock Regional Jail. She is charged with shoplifting, conspiracy, larceny with intent to sell, and obtaining money by false pretenses.
