VSP Investigating Fatal Frederick County Crash

Virginia State Police Trooper S.D. Pauley is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Frederick County. The crash occurred Aug. 19, 2018 at 3:01 p.m. on Route 50, approximately 50 feet north of Route 614.

A 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled out from Route 614/Back Mountain Road and into the path of a 1998 Subaru Legacy traveling east on Route 50. The Subaru was unable to avoid the Jeep and the two vehicles collided on Route 50/Northwestern Pike.

The driver of the Jeep, Roy C. Pugh, 85, of Gore, Va., was transported to Winchester Memorial Hospital.

The driver of the Subaru, A 17-year-old Winchester, Va. female, was transported to Winchester Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening, injuries. She was wearing a seat belt. A passenger in the Subaru, Majestik L. Breeden, 19, of Cross Junction, Va., was transported to Winchester Memorial Hospital.

Both Pugh and Breeden died later Sunday, Aug. 19, at the hospital. Neither one was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
