Virginia Hill Women’s Clothing Boutique Opens in Downtown Fredericksburg
Susan Moss has opened Virginia Hill women’s clothing store at 900 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg. Moss had been selling online, at trunk shows, and at pop-up shops.

ScoutComms Recognized for Creating Positive Customer Impact
Fredericksburg-based ScoutComms has been recognized by B the Change Media as a ‘Best for the World’ company for creating the most positive overall community impact. ScoutComms was honored in the Best for Customers category, which includes businesses that earned a customer score in the top 10 percent of all global Certified B Corporations (B Corps) on the B Impact Assessment. This is the first year ScoutComms was eligible for recognition, after becoming a certified B Corporation in June 2015.

Local Librarian Named to American Library Association Council
Samantha Thomason, Central Rappahannock Regional Library’s community relations manager, has been appointed to a three-year term as Virginia Library Association’s representative on the American Library Association Council, the national organization’s governing body.

Sell This House for Fisher House!
Nancy Mizelle, realtor with Avery Hess Realtors, Fredericksburg regional office, will host “Sell This House for Fisher House!” from 1 – 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. Current and retired military spouses are invited to tour the estate home at 9 Johnson Mill Ridge, in Fredericksburg, Va. 22406. Vendor sponsors will be on hand, and there will be multiple gift basket drawings. Refreshments will be served. If the house sells as a result of this event, 10 percent of the listing commission will be donated to Fisher House Foundation.

Former Daycare Center Sells in Stafford County
The former KinderCare Daycare center at 318 Garrisonville Rd. in Stafford has been purchased by SMD Investments, LLC, for $700,000 from KC Propco, LLC. The 4,900 square-foot property will be used as an investment. Jamie A. Scully, CCIM, of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer handled the sale negotiations on behalf of the seller.

UMW to Participate in Great SouthEast ShakeOut
The University of Mary Washington (UMW) will participate in the Great SouthEast ShakeOut earthquake drill at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20. At this time, the university will test its area warning system, including UMW emergency notification, on the Fredericksburg and Stafford campuses.

Cigar Lounge Opening in The Village at Towne Centre
Hogshead Cigar Lounge will open a second location on December 2. Spotsylvania Towne Centre owner Cafaro Company announced the shops plans to open a location in The Village at Towne Centre.

Local Realtor Voted Virginia Association of Realtors President
Claire Forcier–Rowe has been voted president of the Virginia Association of Realtors. Rowe has worked as a realtor for 22 years, and in 2011 served as president of the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtors.
