Calendar of Events for the Last Weekend of March

March came in like a lion in 2015, with snow in the Fredericksburg area on the first of the month. Most of us are hoping it goes out like a lamb. That’s especially true because of all the outdoor activities in store the last weekend of March, including several Easter Egg Hunts, Kids’ Fishing at Old Cossey Pond and a Woodland Hike at Belmont. Virginia Horse Festival and Secretariat’s Birthday Party
Friday, March 27, 1 – 9 p.m.
Saturday, March 28, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday, March 29, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Meadow Events Park, 13111 Dawn Blvd., Doswell, Va.
A new three-day equestrian event promoting all aspects of the equine industry for the horse owner and enthusiast. The weekend will include an indoor trade show, demonstrations, clinics and seminars. Since horse lovers and dog lovers go hand in hand, the Central Virginia Agility Club will perform demonstrations of this popular dog sport.
Tickets: $10 for adults in advance, $15 at the gate. $8 in advance for children ages five through 12, $10 at the gate. Children four and younger admitted free with a paid adult admission. In Gratitude: A Tribute to Earth, Wind & Fire
Friday, March 27, 7 p.m.
The Old Silk Mill, 1707 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg
“The reason we came together is really for the love of this band and the music,” said Gary Grainger, who directs “In Gratitude” with his brother Greg.
Tickets are $35 purchased online in advance, and $42 at the door.

8th Annual Kids’ Trout Fishing Day at Old Cossey Pond
Saturday, March 28, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
For kids 12 & under, free hot dog lunch and door prizes every hour, There will be loaner rods/reels available.

Easter Bunny Breakfast & Indoor Egg Hunt
Saturday, March 28, 9:30 – 11 a.m.
Dorothy Hart Community Center, 408 Canal St., Fredericksburg
Children aged two to six years may enjoy a rabbit story and create a bunny craft while having breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Stay and take part in an Indoor Egg Hunt. Pre-registration recommended.
$6 per child.

Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs
Saturday, March 28, 12:30 p.m.
Memorial Recreation Park (also known as Kenmore Park), located on the corner of Kenmore Avenue and Mary Ball Street
$5 for up to two dogs
Half of all registration will be given to the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA. Dog owners are required to sign a release acknowledging their dog(s) is current on shots and healthy enough to participate. Dogs must be at least 12-weeks-old. An area will be set aside for dogs under 15 pounds. Pre-registration is suggested. On-site registration will be available if space permits.

Eggsplosion!
Saturday, March 28, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Curtis Memorial Park, 58 Jesse Curtis Lane, Hartwood, Va.
Children 10 and under will enjoy a day of activities that include an egg hunt, moon bounce, pony rides and more. Food vendors will be on site.
$10 in advance/$12 day of event. No charge for adults.
