Casey Alan Shaw will be exhibiting paintings, prints and drawings focused on Fredericksburg subjects at his first solo show in May and June.  His exhibition — “FXBG” — will be held at Studio A Gallery, upstairs at 1011A Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg.

“This is the very first time a large group of my work will be gathered in one venue,” Shaw said. “My recent work focuses on my love for the scenery of Fredericksburg and its icons.”

An opening reception for “FXBG” will be held from 6 – 9 p.m. on May 2, during Fredericksburg First Friday.

Shaw is a member of Fredericksburg’s Art First gallery.  The artist, designer and illustrator has worked professionally for years, but only recently began to exhibit his work.

Shaw spent the past 18 years at USA Today, as the Creative Director for USA Weekend Magazine. Before that he worked in many art fields, including computer graphics, illustration and cartooning.

The Fredericksburg resident earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University.   He has completed post-graduate work in art and graphics at Stanford and Georgetown Universities.

Studio A is open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and by appointment — call (540) 368-2120.
