In response to concerns from the community about flaws in the public parking survey, the City of Fredericksburg has revised its online parking survey, and added a public parking forum.
The forum will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, in Council Chambers at City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St.
The survey and forum are part of the city’s work with Walker Parking Consultants (Walker), to create an action plan for current and future parking needs.

UPDATE: Several issues have been fixed and another free response question was added to the survey. (Having said that, those who have already taken the survey need not take it again as their responses and feedback have been received.) Please know that you may skip the entire section with multiple choice questions in the survey and simply add a text response at the open ended section of the survey tool if desired.
As of earlier this week, we have received 537 survey responses, with 170 comments to the open ended question section! While we have considered some additional comments about the functionality of map graphic and several requests that we allow multiple answers to a single question, we have determined that those changes may compromise the integrity of the significant input that has already been received. Please keep in mind that this survey input is only one of many forms of data being received and evaluated. The City has also already conducted 7 small group forums, including face to face conversations with churches, retailers, City Staff, College Heights residents, and others. Additionally, parking inventory was field verified throughout the entire study areas.
In short, we apologize for the several technical glitches. But we remain very pleased with the number of responses and comments received to date. If survey participants remain concerned with options in the survey they may still offer written or verbal comments to Erik Nelson directly at: [email protected] or simply call the City Manager’s office at (540) 372-1010. Survey input, public forum feedback, and written comments will be used in conjunction with other data (street inventory counts, projected growth, signage and parking management best practices, etc.) to offer the Parking Task Force recommendations on near and long term parking solutions.
Lastly, in an attempt to gain as much feedback as possible, we have determined that one additional public forum on parking will be held. Please join us Thursday, January 26, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
