Each week members of the FredXchange community nominate an entrepreneur of the week. This week it’s Linda Clevenger, founder of Organization Direct.

Where did you grow up?

Woodstown, N.J.

What’s your professional background (i.e. schooling, work experience, skills)?

My background is pretty diverse. I completed my degree as a legal assistant and worked for several law offices in New Jersey and North Carolina. I have held management positions within several International unions (in the area of local union contracts and jurisdiction) and within the financial planning field. I have also spent several years developing consistent social media management for my business, which I have transformed into classes for my clients. Most recently, I have received my Scrum Master Certification and am an A.T.P. (Approved Training Partner) with Scrum Study.

Describe your idea, startup, or business?

Organization Direct was actually started as a hands-on organization business for those who with: too little time to get organized, stressed out and overwhelmed with everything that they had to do and those who wanted specific solutions for what to do with their space (and how to organize it). We provided organizational solutions for their space. After realizing that most of our clients had the exact same issue, we pivoted our business to focus on: time, schedule and paper management. At the same time we incorporated social medial management into our offerings – another area that was a “time-sucker” for our clients.

What’s the value proposition of your product or service?

Our value proposition is society driven. Finding focus and structure is a missing piece for so many Entrepreneurs and business. We all need and want to do more in less time and with a better result. Our services provide motivation, accountability and structure to allow this to happen.

Your tagline in seven words or less.

Don’t Agonize – Get Organized

What was your inspiration for your idea, startup, or business?

I was tired of corporate America. I worked hard at my position in the financial planning field and our team was #1 Rookie of the Year in only six months. I decided now that I was “grown up,” I wanted to experience this same feeling for myself.

Who and where are your customers?

Small to medium size businesses in our local area and throughout the U.S. A lot of our offerings are available online and via teleclass.

Why the Fredericksburg region?

We moved to the area for my husband’s last tour in the Marine Corps. He retired from Quantico Marine Corps Base in 1995. We fell in love with the area and decided to stay.

Fun fact about you or your business?

I am the daughter of a dairy farmer from N.J. and earned my very first paycheck at the age of 12. It was $2.50! I was feeding calves, helping in the milk parlor and baling hay back then. My life has created my business. When I look back, every life event has made an impact on my business and I love who it has allowed me to become.

Favorite quote.
