by | Dec 1, 2016 | Traffic

From the Virginia Department of Transportation

Motorists should anticipate brief overnight travel delays on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound in the Fredericksburg area on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, for multiple work zones.

Several lanes will be closed between Exit 130/Route 3 in Fredericksburg and Exit 133/Route 17 in Stafford County. Lanes will be closed from Thursday evening into early Friday, Dec. 2, at the following locations and times:

Interstate 95 Southbound
· 10 p.m. – 2 a.m. Double lane closure. Crews will collect pavement samples from the left and center lanes of I-95 southbound between the Route 17 overpass and the Rappahannock River bridge.

Interstate 95 Northbound
· 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Single lane closure. Crews will close the right lane for ongoing construction of a new interstate overpass at Fall Hill Avenue, which is just north of Exit 130/Route 3.

Message boards will provide advance warning of these work zones and lane closures. Motorists may consider using Route 1 as an alternate route to avoid delays.
