A new National Park Service (NPS) report shows that 891,000 visitors to Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park in 2015 spent $51.1 million in communities near the park. “That spending supported 714 jobs in the local area and had a cumulative benefit to the local economy of $67.6 million,” said Superintendent Kirsten Talken-Spaulding.

“We are delighted to share the story of this hallowed ground with visitors from across the country and around the world,” Talken-Spaulding said. “Those visits also serve as an introduction to the Fredericksburg area and all that it offers.”

According to the report, National Park tourism returns $10 for every $1 invested in the National Park Service.
