Rosner Automotive Group and B101.5 are the new sponsors for the 2014 Fredericksburg Christmas Parade. The Fredericksburg Jaycees had long run the annual tradition. The group told the City of Fredericksburg in August they were no longer interested in coordinating the event.

The downtown Fredericksburg parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6. The theme for 2014 is “All I want for Christmas is . . .” Parade entries are being accepted through November 1.

B101.5 radio’s Chris and Dee will host a live video-stream broadcast of the parade, produced by Melvin Brown and Videomann Productions, said Chuck Archer, operations manager of B101.5 radio.

The parade begins at Caroline and Charlotte Streets, travels northeast to Amelia Street, turns left onto Amelia then left onto Princess Anne Street. The parade ends at Princess Anne and Wolfe Streets.

A maximum of 100 entries will be allowed in the parade. The categories are commercial floats, novelty, bands, majorettes (senior), majorettes (junior), dance/gymnastics and equestrian. Judges will award a first place trophy in each division.

Entrance fees are $250 for commercial/business entities, $175 for nonprofits. The fees help offset the cost of the parade, and proceeds will fund “activities and needs of the children of Fredericksburg,” said Wendy Stone, Fredericksburg Parks & Recreation division manager for leisure services. Volunteers are also needed. Complete details and a parade application are available on the parade website.
