25 30 Espresso is celebrating the start of their eighth year of business.

“Our love for coffee starts with our interest in the coffee bean itself,” said Owner Maureen Bartosh, who opened the business in December 2007. She named the shop for 25-north latitude and 30-south latitude, the best areas on earth to grow coffee. “We devote ourselves to learning all about coffee and how best to brew it,” Bartosh said.

25 30 opens at 4:30 a.m., earlier than any other coffee shop in Fredericksburg. Its location across the street from the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) station makes that a good thing. “We do a good chunk of our business before 8 a.m.,” Bartosh said. “That’s what drove our business in the beginning. We’re pretty well balanced out now, with regulars coming in throughout the day.”

25 30 uses Counter Culture Coffee, a company that partners directly with farmers and cooperatives to nurture the beans from seed to cup.

In addition to the more traditional espressos and lattes, 25 30 offers drip coffee and hand pours. Tea, chai, hot chocolate, blended ice and 100 percent fruit smoothies are also available.

Breakfast food for eat-in or take-out includes pastries, cinnamon rolls, muffins, breads, breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. Lunch sandwiches feature fresh deli meats and cheeses on artisanal breads.

The shop recently added a community table made from 100-year-old barn wood, crafted for them by Fraser Wood Elements of 820 Caroline St.

25 30 Espresso’s hours are:
– 4:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
– 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Saturday
– 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sunday
