Nick Cadwallender Joins Plants Map

by | Oct 10, 2014 | Business

Nick Cadwallender, former president and publisher of the Free Lance-Star, has joined Plants Map as senior vice president for strategic partnerships.

Plants Map is a mobile friendly, social website that allows individuals and organizations
to create a webpage for each of their plants, including photos, notes, growing information and links to favorite reference pages and videos.

Plants Map, Inc., the January 2014 Startup Weekend Fredericksburg winner, was co-founded by Spotsylvania residents Bill and Tracy Blevins. Cadwallender is their first employee. “We’re thrilled to have Nick and the extensive business expertise he brings to Plants Map,” Bill said.

Cadwallender, himself an avid gardener, will be responsible for fostering relationships with arboretums, botanical gardens, universities and such groups. “I’m looking forward to helping gardening communities fully realize the value of Plants Map,” he said.

This is not the first time Bill and Nick will work together. Blevins worked as staff photographer and director of photography at the Free Lance-Star in the 1990s. In April 1999, Cadwallender hired him to manage the Internet and Yellow Pages publishing division of The Free Lance-Star Publishing Company, a position he held until November 2004.
