The University of Mary Washington Jazz Ensemble will play a benefit concert on Saturday, Nov. 8, followed by an informal jam session open to all musicians in the audience.

Net proceeds from the event, called Jazz 4 Justice©, will benefit the UMW Jazz Ensemble and Rappahannock Legal Services, an area nonprofit that provides civil legal assistance. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Dodd Auditorium on UMW’s main Fredericksburg campus.

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at the event, or in advance at the following locations:

Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 706 Caroline St.
Roberson’s Music, 1300 Jefferson Davis Hwy
Rappahannock Legal Services, 500 Lafayette Blvd.
Creative Music Academy, 7001 Harrison Rd.

Will call tickets can also be purchased online at Rappahannock Legal Services.

Money raised will help fund scholarships for UMW music students and legal services for low income area individuals and families.

Jazz 4 Justice© events involve partnerships between university based musical groups and legal assistance organizations. The Fredericksburg Area Bar Association and UMW are cosponsoring the Fredericksburg event.

Companies interested in sponsoring the event may contact Paul Simpson, a partner with the Parrish, Houck & Snead law firm and president of the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association. Donations are tax deductible.
