La Befana & Feast of the Epiphany Celebration

Celebrate the New Year with the Fred-Este Association. Learn about La Befana, and the role she plays in Italian culture, and enjoy an Italian-cuisine buffet. $40 – $50. Limited seating for 50 people.
Epiphany Service and Party

A festival worship service followed by a party in Sydnor Hall with heavy hor d’oeuvres (and maybe some dancing!) to celebrate the Epiphany, the revealing of Jesus to the magi from the east by the guiding of a star. Along the way, we will bless a married couple and gaze one more time upon the holy family crèche as we hear a last Christmas anthem from our Compline choir. Nursery available. All ages welcome.
Fredericksburg Theatre Ensemble presents Assassins

Assassins, based on the book by John Weidman, tells the story of nine misfit men and women who attempted (four successfully) to assassinate American Presidents, offering a peak into what each hoped to achieve. $10.

Visit Richmond’s own Gilded Age showplace and step into the Dooleys’ world of wealth and social influence, where a large domestic staff maintained the lifestyle, and guests stood in awe of the lavish receptions in this castle-like home. Elegantly costumed ladies, gentlemen, and members of the household staff reveal the social rituals, family dramas, and important tittle-tattle of the day as you are transported to the Downton era at Maymont. Living history tours available every half-hour; last tour begins at 4:30pm. Cost: $7/$4 for members.

Religious Freedom Day Celebration
Sunday, Jan. 8
1:30 p.m. – Parade begins at the Fredericksburg train station and travels through downtown Fredericksburg to the Religious Freedom Monument on Washington Avenue. All religious groups are invited to march in the parade and carry a banner identifying their affiliation and showing their support for religious freedom.
2 p.m. – Ceremony at the monument begins. Speakers include Virginia State Delegate Bobby Orrock (R-54), State Senator Glen H. Sturtevant, Jr., (R-10), and Fredericksburg Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw.
