VDOT hot spots in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline, and King George for March 19 – 25, 2017.

City of Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue
(New) Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and flagging operations on Fall Hill Avenue near Gordon W. Shelton Boulevard going towards the new traffic circle near the Rappahannock Canal. Crews will begin milling the asphalt. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard as part of the Fall Hill Avenue widening project. Motorists should stay alert for ongoing work in the median with crews working to install new curb and paving.

Stafford County
Route 1
(New) Thursday ˗˗ Friday, 7 p.m. ˗˗ 5 a.m. Crews will remove jersey barriers, eradicate temporary striping and restore original striping on Route 1 near Coachman Circle. Crews will remove the temporary work zone installed as part of construction of the new Aquia Hilton Extended Stay Hotel Home2Suites. Crews will open the continuous center lane for left turns onto Coachman Circle. Motorists should anticipate single lane closures on southbound Route 1 overnight between the two entrances to Coachman Circle.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) at Onville Road
(New) Monday – Thursday 8 p.m. – 5:00 a.m., and Friday, 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. Double lane closures on Garrisonville Road, eastbound and westbound, for paving and final construction activities at the Onville Road intersection. Lane closures will be mobile, and the traffic pattern will shift as work progresses.

Route 610
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Motorists can expect alternating single lane closures overnight on Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) from Shenandoah Lane to Travis Lane. Crews will be conducting pipe work to install a new drainage system. This work is in regards to the Stafford County widening of Garrisonville Road.

Chatham Bridge
(Update) Sunday ˗˗ Thursday, 9 p.m. ˗˗ 6 a.m. Traffic will be reduced to one westbound lane on the Chatham Bridge over the Rappahannock River. Crews will continue to work to improve sidewalks and railings on the bridge between Stafford County and the city of Fredericksburg. Pedestrian access may be restricted to one side of the bridge overnights when crews are working.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) near Telegraph Road ˗˗ ditch cleaning
Route 3 (Kings Highway) near Hollywood Farm Road and Cassion Road ˗˗ brush removal, shoulder repairs
Route 607 (Cool Springs Road) ˗˗ pothole patching
Route 616 (Poplar Road) ˗˗ maintenance work
Route 627 (Mountain View Road) ˗˗ ditch cleaning
Route 628 (American Legion Road) ˗˗ shoulder repairs
Route 642 (Barrett Heights Road) ˗˗ shoulder repairs, ditch cleaning
Route 1527 (Martin Street) ˗˗ shoulder repairs

Spotsylvania County
Route 618
(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Drivers should expect delays on Route 618 (River Road) between Route 3 (Plank Road) and Route 639 (Bragg Road) for pavement repair. Flaggers and a pilot truck will direct motorists through the work zone, one lane at a time.

Route 620 (Harrison Road)
(New) Saturday, March 25 ˗˗ Sunday, March 26, 3 a.m. ˗˗ 10 p.m. A small section of Route 620 (Harrison Road) will be closed between Route 1 and Lafayette Boulevard as crews relocate worker and sewer lines. Posted message boards will direct motorists to use Route 1324 (Lassen Lane) as the recommended detour route. This work is part of the project to build new turn lanes and improve the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection

Route 622
(New) Monday ˗˗ Sunday, 9 a.m. Route 622 (Fairview Road) just west of Route 601 (Wallers Road) will be closed to through traffic for a bridge improvement project. The bridge over Northeast Creek is located between Wallers Road and Lewistown Road. A detour will be in place for approximately six weeks while construction is underway. Crews will be replacing the existing bridge’s steel beams, deck with new timber, steel and guardrail, while also making repairs to the vertical walls and foundation. Motorists need to follow the signs along the recommended detour.

Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:

Route 208 (Courthouse Road) ˗˗ ditch cleaning
Route 610 (Elys Ford Road) ˗˗ debris pickup
Route 610 (Old Plank Road) ˗˗ debris pickup
Route 612 (Monrovia Road) ˗˗ pothole patching
Route 613 (Brock Road) ˗˗ debris pickup
Route 618 (River Road) ˗˗ debris pickup
Route 652 (Belmont Road) ˗˗ pothole patching
Route 655 (Ridge Road) ˗˗ pothole patching
Route 680 (Granite Springs Road) ˗˗ pothole patching

Caroline County
Route 301
(New) Tuesday ˗˗ Friday, 7 a.m. ˗˗ 7 p.m. Expect alternating lane closures and brief delays on Route 301 (A.P. Hill Boulevard) southbound between the bridge over Campbell Road and a bridge over Peumansend Creek for removal of snow plow markers. This is approximately a four mile section on Route 301.

Route 653
(New) Thursday, 9 a.m. Route 653 (Burruss Lane) west of Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike) will be closed to through traffic for a bridge improvement project. The bridge over Reedy Creek is located on Burruss Lane between Route 662 (Gregory Road) and Route 652 (Signboard Road). A detour will be in place for approximately two weeks while construction is underway. Motorists need to follow the signs along the recommended detour. Crews will replace steel beams, deck with new timber, steel and guardrail, while also making repairs to the vertical walls and foundation.
