Six bridges on Interstate 95 in Stafford and Spotsylvania counties will be rehabilitated over the next two years.
The project will improve the condition of northbound and southbound bridges that carry I-95 over Aquia Creek and Potomac Creek in Stafford, and Ni River in Spotsylvania.
Work will include deck repairs, superstructure repairs and substructure and crack repairs. The project will also include installing dry rip rap, complete joint reconstruction, milling concrete decks, patching and installing a latex modified concrete on deck.
Construction will begin in fall 2016, and is scheduled to be complete in November 2018.
Work will begin on the northbound I-95 bridge over Ni River in Spotsylvania, which is located at mile marker 121.
Approximately four to five months of work will be required at each bridge location.
Lane closures will be required for approximately two months at each bridge. Lane closures will be scheduled for overnight and off-peak hours.
The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) awarded a contract worth approximately $5.1 million to Fort Myer Construction Corp., of Washington, D.C., for the project.
