The National Association of Sport Public Address Announcer (NASPAA) has selected Matt Kreitz, Massaponax High School P.A. Announcer, as the High School 2018-19 Bob Sheppard P.A. Announcer of the Year. Sheppard, whose professionalism became the standard for sports P.A. Announcers, was the stadium announcer for the New York Yankees for 57 years. The legendary announcer is considered the best P.A. Announcer, ever.
Kreitz has been Massaponax’s football announcer for the past 17 years during which time he has announced 12 regional football playoffs, four football conference championships, and one Virginia High School League (VHSL) Semi-final Football Championship. He has also announced baseball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, wrestling, Virginia State Marching Band Assessments, and various other events at the school.
“It is truly an honor to be named the High School 2018-19 Bob Sheppard P.A. Announcer of the Year,” remarked Kreitz. “I am grateful to the Administrators and Coaches at Massaponax High School who have given me the opportunity to announce for the last 17 years. I would also like to thank all of our fans who have supported my announcing endeavors. I am pleased to represent such a wonderful community, of which I am so proud to be a part.”
