Crawley, Ridderhof Win Top Honors in Dancing with the Fredericksburg Stars

Local dentist Theresa (Terry) Crawley won the 2014 Mirror Ball Trophy, top prize in Dancing with the Fredericksburg Stars. The second annual event was held October 11 at the University of Mary Washington (UMW). Crawley won with her performance of a Rumba with partner Michael Scott, co-owner of Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio in Fredericksburg.

Florence Ridderhof, who performed a Tango with Michael Scott, won the People’s Choice award.

Dancing with the Fredericksburg Stars was inaugurated in 2013 to endow a performing arts scholarship for regional students studying music, theatre, or dance at UMW.

Partnered with Michael and Melissa Scott of Strictly Ballroom Dance Studio, ten community leaders competed Saturday night. They are listed here with the award they received:

Best Rhythm: John Moss, partner, Rinehart, Butler, Hodge, Moss & Bryant, PLC, who performed a Peabody with Melissa Scott.

Best Costume: John Wack, president, Eastern Sports Management, who performed a Viennese Waltz with Melissa Scott.

Most Amazing Moves: Lisa Crittenden, executive director, Loisann’s Hope House, who performed a Jive with Michael Scott.

Most Graceful: Debby Girvan, president, Flair Communications, who performed a Fox Trot with Michael Scott.

Most Entertaining: Regis Keddie, senior vice president, Davenport and Co., who performed a Swing with Melissa Scott.

Most Flair: John Fick, president and CEO, J. F Fick, Inc., who performed a Hustle with Melissa Scott.

Fanciest Footwork: Janel Donohue, president, Rappahannock United Way, who performed a Cha Cha with Michael Scott.

Best Posture: Terri Crawley, DDS, who performed a Rumba with Michael Scott.

Most Engaging: Joe Wilson, owner and CEO, PermaTreat Pest Control, who performed a Texas Two Step with Melissa Scott.

Most Dramatic: Florence Ridderhof, volunteer and arts patron, who performed a Tango with Michael Scott.

Former Washington Redskin Darrell Green was host for the evening. He currently serves as UMW Special Assistant for Student-Athlete Development and Public Relations. The judges were professional ballroom dancer Rosendo Fuermo, Walker Grant Middle School Principal Melanie Kay-Wyatt, and President and CEO of the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce Susan Spears. Spears and Kay-Wyatt were dancers in the 2013 event.
