Winter Weather Advisory for Fredericksburg Area
The rain and snow mix is expected to diminish Wednesday night into Thanksgiving Day, with only a 30 percent chance of the wintry mix continuing Thanksgiving morning. The rest of the day should be mostly cloudy, with a high near 44 degrees.
A winter storm warning is in effect further north and west, and includes Waynesboro, Staunton and Front Royal and Winchester. The NWS predicts snow accumulations ranging from three to six inches in elevations below 1,500 feet, and from six to 10 inches in elevations above 1,500 feet. The heaviest snow is expected between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, and should end Wednesday afternoon.
Snow along Interstates 64, 81 and 68 “will have a significant impact on holiday travel plans,” the NWS said.
