Bea Paolucci is running for the Ward 4 City Council seat in the Tuesday, May 6, 2014, Fredericksburg General Election.  The incumbent is facing Charlie L. “Chuck” Frye, Jr.

Each candidate was invited to answer the same three questions from Fredericksburg.Today.  Answers from Bea Paolucci follow.  (Editor’s Note:  I extended the invitation to Mr. Frye, but he did not respond.)

1 – What is your educational background? Degrees earned and from where?

Northern Virginia Community College; American Institute of Banking – numerous certificates to include Bank Operations, Commercial Lending, Statement Analysis etc. to list.

2 – What is your current occupation?

Office Manager – HGP, Inc. / Previously with Bank of Virginia/Signet 25 years/Vice President-Market Branch Operations for 123 branches in Virginia and District of Columbia.

3 – What do you believe are the two or three most important issues currently facing Fredericksburg and how do you propose solving them? It’s best to keep your response to a maximum of 600 words for online reading.

Economic Development – Economic growth while protection our valuable heritage.  We need to better promote our technology and tourism zones to attract businesses that bring high-paying jobs to Fredericksburg.  I supported and voted to fund the Main Street Initiative to promote the Historic Downtown and continue to support proper incentives to attract new businesses to Fredericksburg; Council is working on several locations to address the downtown parking needs and I initiated the discussion that lead to the new parking arrangements at the Princess Anne Building.

Neighborhoods & Safety – address property maintenance concerns and fund deferred infrastructure improvements Continue to support and fund the Community Policing efforts, fire and emergency medical services and our schools to maintain the highest standards and safety for all our residents.  Council approved an additional position in the 2013 to address the maintenance issues.  I have supported and voted to fund our schools, police and fire along with Public Work projects since I was elected to office and will continue to do so if elected to represent Ward 4 for another term.

Editor’s Note:  All answers appear unedited.  Answers from the other candidates are available at Fredericksburg General Election 2014.
