By Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity

Greater Fredericksburg Habitat for Humanity is seeking interns for a variety of volunteer positions.  If interested, please email a resume and brief description of why you’re interested in the internship opportunity to [email protected].
Resource Development
The Resource Development intern will help raise money for our builds and general operating costs. You do not need to have relevant experience, but it would be helpful. You will be mentored and will learn valuable skills, including but not limited to: grant writing, special events, and donor cultivation and recognition. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, be well-organized, and be passionate about eliminating poverty housing in our area.
Public Relations and Social Media
An intern in this specialty will help our affiliate increase our local presence and interaction with our supporters, both online and offline. You will help develop content for our website, make our Facebook page a community hub, and coordinate and promote special events like home dedications. You will work with our experienced team to help make our affiliate better known. The ideal candidate will be creative, dedicated, and willing to learn.
Education and Family Support
A Family Support will help plan and facilitate meetings for the children in local Habitat families. On the second Monday evening of each month, our partner families come together for classes on home ownership issues. At this time, their children are also on site and need homework help, supervision, and someone to talk to. Ages vary from infants to teenagers. This is a perfect internship for anyone interested in education, psychology, or social work. The ideal applicant will be reliable, friendly, easy going, and able to pass a criminal background check. He or she will also have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy working with kids. We have a preference for interns who are willing to commit at least three months to this program.
Office Intern
We are seeking a part-time office intern to assist with administrative tasks and general office work. This is a great way to get office experience and get to know our organization. You must be at least 15-years-old and able to commit eight hours a week on average, preferably on Thursdays and Fridays.
Construction Intern
We are seeking an intern to help facilitate construction on our next build.  The start date for this position will most likely be in October.  Some construction experience is preferred, but those who simply have a willingness to learn will also be accepted.  The ideal candidate will be flexible and good at working with a team, and will also be able to commit at least one day per week to the position.
