Five Steps to Help Avoid Acne Breakouts

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, acne is the most common skin disorder in the United States, affecting millions nationwide.

Acne can be triggered by various causes, including hormones, stress and unhealthy eating. But acne is not totally out of your control.

The best way to get rid of your acne is to see a professional.  A skin specialist will be able to identify the root of your problem and advise the best course of treatment.

Following are five steps you can take to help reduce or eliminate acne.

Avoid fabric softeners in the washing machine and fabric-softener sheets in the dryer.  They create a waxy residue that clogs your pores.
Wash your pillow cases and hand towels weekly.
Avoid swimming pools because the combination of heat and humidity, physical exercise and chlorine can lead to major breakouts.
Use almond, rice or coconut milk instead of cow or goat’s milk products.  Cow’s milk and goat’s milk tend to create inflammation in the pores, which can lead to major breakouts.
Remove your make-up before sleep.  Always.

Crystal Clear Acne Clinic, located at 1210 Princess Anne St., Suite A, provides treatment to those suffering from all types of skin conditions, including acne, acne rosacea and effects brought on by aging.
