The line is already long at FOODE.  The downtown restaurant is giving away burgers Tuesday, March 11, in exchange for your signature.

“[W]e’re handing out free burgers in the FOODE courtyard for as long as possible to those of you willing to sign your name to a letter to the CEO of Chimerix pleading for the medicine to be released to Josh,” posted FOODE on their Facebook page.

Josh Hardy, a first grader at Fredericskburg’s Hugh Mercer Elementary School, is in the intensive care unit of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.  There is a drug that could possibly help Josh, but pharmaceutical company Chimerix said their drug – Brincidofovir — is still in trial and not available to the general public.

FOODE, along with the Fairy Godmother Project, Olde Towne Butcher, Lyon Bakery and US Foods are teaming up to #savejosh.
