Six members of the Fredericksburg Police Department have been promoted.
Lt. Mark Purcell, 56, has been promoted to Captain, effective Mar. 15, 2014. He will transfer from the Detective Division to commanding the Support Services Division, said Natatia Bledsoe, police department public information officer. Lt. Purcell fills the position recently advertised by the City of Fredericksburg. He has worked for the department since October 2006.
Cpl. Crystal Wilson, 29, was promoted to Sergeant, effective Jan. 18, 2014. She has worked for the department since March 2006 and is assigned to patrol.
