About The Civil War in 1864: First Annual Emerging Civil War Symposium at Stevenson Ridge
Local, regional, and national historians will speak on various topics of the Civil War Friday through Sunday at Stevenson Ridge, 6901 Meeting St, Spotsylvania. $55 per person.

Tanya M. Richie Farewell
Local artist iTanya M. Richie is hosting a 6 – 9 p.m. farewell reception on Friday, Aug. 15, at Castiglia’s Italian Restaurant, 234 William St., Fredericksburg.

Sounds of Summer Concert Series
The Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center presents Tony Craddock, Jr. and Cold Front, 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, August 15, in Market Square, 907 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg.  Free.

Fredericksburg Farmers Market
6 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Hurkamp Park, Prince Edward and George Streets in downtown Fredericksburg. The 900 block of Prince Edward Street will be closed to traffic.

Fly Fishing 101
Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) presents Fly Fishing 101 from 9 a.m. – noon on Saturday, Aug. 16.  The cost is $15/individual or $45/family — up to four people ($12 and $36 for FOR members).  Gear will be provided.  Pre-registration is required online on FOR’s website.  Meet at Old Cossey Pond adjacent to Memorial Park (formerly Kenmore Park) along Fredericksburg’s Canal Path.

Bluemont in Fredericksburg Concert Series
Susan Greenbaum performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in Maury Stadium.   Admission is $5 per person, $4 Bluemont Friends & Seniors, $2 kids under 12.  There are no advance ticket sales — tickets are available at concert.  Maury Stadium is located at Hanover Street and Kenmore Avenue in Fredericksburg.

The Big Day

The Big Day Special Event and Bridal Show
11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center, Carl D. Silver Pkwy.  Tickets are $10 online, $12 at the door.
