PE-ID is an early intervention program for infants and toddlers from birth through 36-months of age who have developmental delays. It is available to residents of the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, Caroline and King George.
The program provides physical, occupational and speech therapies as well as special education and service coordination to more than 600 infants and their families each year, according to the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB). Services are provided in the child’s natural environment, including the home and daycare. An emphasis is placed on parent training and activities that will support the child’s development and meet identified goals.
Evaluations and assessments are provided at no cost. Therapy services are billable to medical insurance, including Medicaid. Fees are based on a sliding scale, and no one is denied service due to an inability to pay.
