Fred Rankin was honored Monday night at the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority’s annual Business Appreciation Reception.

Rankin has served as CEO of Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC) for 22 years.  The average healthcare CEO lasts 3.6 years on the job, Fredericksburg Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw told those gathered.   She thanked Rankin, who is retiring, for his “fierce loyalty and genuine care.”

The EDA is making a donation to the MWHC Foundation in honor of Rankin.  The dollar amount will be determined at the EDA’s June 9 meeting, said Karen Hedelt, director of the city’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism.

The Business Appreciation Reception was hosted at Snowden House, home of the Mary Washington Hospital and Stafford Hospital Foundations.
