Six Weekend Events In, Near Fredericksburg

Six events in the Fredericksburg area for the weekend of August 8 – 10, 2014.  Click the hyperlinks for more information.
1 – Restaurant Week Continues
It’s Summer Restaurant Week through August 10 in Fredericksburg.  The fourth annual event features 17 independent restaurants offering “Two for $20″ specials.
2 – Sounds of Summer Concert Series
The Fredericksburg Area Museum & Cultural Center presents Eric Brace & Peter Cooper, 7 – 9 p.m. Friday, August 8, in Market Square, 907 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg.  Free.
3 – Junior Ranger Walk at the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center
Earn a patch by completing several activities along the Sunken Road.  Meet at 11 a.m. at the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center, 1013 Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg.  The one hour event is recommended for children ages 6 – 12.   Free.
4 – Second Annual Love for the Beard Competition
The Fredericksburg Beard Coalition presents its second annual facial hair competition, Love for the Beard, 2 p.m. at Spotsylvania Towne Centre, 3102 Plank Rd., Fredericksburg. The cost to compete is $25, with proceeds going to local charities.  Admission is free for spectators.
5 – Bluemont in Fredericksburg Concert Series
The Bluemont in Fredericksburg Concert Series presents the Martinsburg Jazz Combo at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, August 9, in Maury Stadium.   Admission is $5 per person, $4 Bluemont Friends & Seniors, $2 kids under 12.  There are no advance ticket sales — tickets are available at concert.  Maury Stadium is located at Hanover Street and Kenmore Avenue in Fredericksburg.
6 – Geocaching 101
Experience the sport of Geocaching, a global scavenger hunt, from 1 – 3 p.m. at Caledon State Park, 11617 Caledon Rd., King George.  Cost is $3/person or $8/family. Reservations are required by calling 540-663-3861.  GPS units supplied.
