Jan Davis and George Farrar have opened a second business in downtown Fredericksburg. The owners of Taste Oil, Vinegar, Spice are now offering specialty confections right next door at Sweets on Caroline, 817 Caroline St. Sweets on Caroline Brings Specialty Confections to Fredericksburg
River Rock Outfitter
River Rock Outfitter officially opened their doors November 7, with a ribbon cutting outside the new store at 915 Sophia St. The specialty outdoor retailer offers equipment and apparel for outdoor pursuits, including hiking, paddling and rock climbing. Alan Furs, Bash Boutique
Bash Boutique – Alan Furs held its grand opening celebration October 11, with a ribbon cutting and fashion show. Alan Furs, which has had a Richmond store for decades, opened its location at 804 Caroline St. Bash Boutique — described as “a store within a store” featuring Brighton, Sloane Ranger, All for Color, Milly, Alexis Bittar, Freida Rothman and Christopher Radko. Fraser Wood Elements
Fraser Wood Elements at 820 Caroline St. features reclaimed and refinished wood products, including flooring, furniture and decorative accessories.
Kickshaws Downtown Market
“Living naturally does not necessarily have to mean living outside of your budget,” said Kickshaws owner Kathy Craddock. The small grocery store at 101 William St. features organic, locally sourced, all-natural and gluten-free products. Kickshaws Downtown Market opened July 19.
Lord & Lilly’s
Spotsylvania resident Sandy Cook always wanted to have her own shop. She’s opened Lord & Lilly’s and Sandy’s Frugals & Frillys at 900 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg. (Lord & Lilly’s for short.) Read her story at New Shop Fulfilling a Dream
Jay’s Downtown Sports Lounge

Sight Studio Optometry
Sight Studio Optometry opened at 829 Caroline St. The full-service eye care store includes eye exams, pediatric eye care, a large frame selection, contacts, laser vision consultations, and diagnosis and management of ocular diseases.
Pappagallo Fine Gifts and Imports
Suzanne Metzger had been working as a senior business analyst at Geico in Stafford for 15 years and was ready for a change when an opportunity presented itself. The owner of Heritage Gifts and Imports at 300 William St. was selling. Metzger bought the store’s inventory and changed the name to Pappagallo Fine Gifts and Imports. The Virginia Deli
The Virginia Deli has moved to a new location in downtown Fredericksburg. It’s now located at 826 Caroline St. Review their offerings at The Virginia Deli Opens New Location
Deutschland Downtown
Deutschland Downtown, a restaurant and deli at 411 William St., offers Bavarian and European cuisine. Owner Denise Antinori and her chef husband had been planning the restaurant since 2012, and selling their homemade bratwurst via a food truck in the meantime. The restaurant has an outside beer garden.
Skin+Touch Therapy
Brian Lam opened a larger space at 714 Caroline St. He talks about it at Skin+Touch Therapy Opens New Space.
Latitudes Fair Trade
Latitudes Fair Trade opened at 806 Caroline St. in Downtown Fredericksburg. This is the second store for owners Lee and Terry Owsley, who also own Latitudes Fair Trade in Warrenton. Both stores are members of the Fair Trade Federation, which supports farmers and artisans in developing countries.
Huckleberry’s
Huckleberry’s is a secondhand furniture and home decor store at 316 Forbes St. Owners Robbie and Karen Pitts said they source their inventory from estate sales and independent sellers, and carry more upscale items.
FreeBird Studios
FreeBird Studios, featuring the art and photography of Jill Jacobs, opened at 709 Caroline St. The location was formerly the Paula Rose Gallery.

Bourbon Street Studio Fine Art Photography opened at 620 Caroline St.
East Coast Vapers

The House of Milk and Honey

La Rosetta
La Rosetta Ristorante moved from Stafford County to the historic house at 623 Caroline St. Owner Jose Gonzales and his family also own Soup & Taco at 813 Caroline St., and Eight-O-Six Bistro at 806 William St. Gonzales said La Rosetta specials will include French influences and incorporate the family’s Latin background.
Peacaloo Boutique
Designer and stylist Stefany Clare opened Pecaloo Boutique at 614 Caroline St.
Crystal Clear Skin Care
Crystal Wellman, owner of Ladyburg at 807 Caroline St., opened a second business. Crystal Clear Acne Clinic is located at 1210 Princess Anne St.
Eight-O-Six Bistro
Jose Gonzales opened Eight-O-Six Bistro at 806 William St. The location was formerly home to Jake and Mike’s.
Verolia Bohemia
This vintage clothing store opened at 2011 Princess Anne St., Suite 103.
BIO CrossFit West
This gym and fitness center is now open at 1623 Princess Anne St.

Rocking the Chair
Rocking the Chair Painted Furniture owners John and Sharon Kidd had moved from their storefront at 915 Sophia St. in September 2014, and planned to reopen at 316 Bridgewater St. “Due to several reasons, we will not be reopening a shop at this time,” they announced December 26 on Facebook.
PNC Financial Services

Savvy Chic
Savvy Chic, the upscale, repurposed painted furniture and vintage decor store at 619 Caroline St., relocated to 17043 Merchants Dr. in Ruther Glen, Va.
