Stafford County Public Schools Schedules Redistricting Public Hearings

The Stafford County School Board will receive the redistricting committees’ recommendations at a work session on January 12. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Alvin York Bandy Administrative Complex, 31 Stafford Ave. No public comment will be heard at this work session.

Three redistricting public hearings have been scheduled to review proposed attendance boundary changes in Stafford County for the 2015-16 school year.

January 14
The public hearing for comment on the redistricting plan that may affect Widewater, Moncure, Hampton Oaks, Kate Waller Barrett, Winding Creek, Garrisonville and Park Ridge Elementary students will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at North Stafford High School, 839 Garrisonville Rd. The changes are recommended to reduce the overcrowding at Widewater Elementary and potential overcrowding at Winding Creek Elementary in the 2015-16 school year and future years.

January 21
The public hearing for comment on the middle school redistricting plan that may affect Rodney Thompson, H.H. Poole, Stafford, Shirley Heim and AG Wright Middle School students will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Colonial Forge High School, 550 Courthouse Rd. The changes are recommended to reduce the overcrowding at Rodney Thompson Middle School, the projected overcrowding at Shirley Heim Middle School and the underutilization of Stafford Middle School, beginning in the 2015-16 school year.

January 22
The public hearing for comment on the redistricting plan to relieve overcrowding at Conway Elementary School will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, at Stafford High School, 33 Stafford Indian Lane. Other schools that may be impacted are Falmouth and Grafton Village Elementary Schools.

Parents are encouraged to attend the public hearings to receive a presentation of the recommendations and share comments regarding the proposed changes. Written comments may be submitted to Pat Druash at [email protected]. All comments received will be shared with the school board members.
