The City of Fredericksburg Planning Commission will review the latest draft of the revised Comprehensive Plan during its work session on Wednesday, Jan. 14. The 6 p.m. meeting will be held in City Hall, Conference Room #214, 715 Princess Anne St.

“The Comprehensive Plan is the principle guide when important land use, transportation, public service and community facility decisions are made,” said Richard Friesner, chairman of the seven member commission. “This plan incorporates sustainability, but more importantly proposes a series of “neighborhood” plans be developed over the next few years,” he said.

A public hearing will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Council Chambers at City Hall. Friesner is encouraging community participation. “It is one of the most important public policy guides in Fredericksburg, and it should reflect the views of a broad cross-section of Fredericksburg citizens,” he said. Written comments may also be directly submitted to the Department of Community Planning and Building, City Hall Room 209, 715 Princess Anne St.

The latest version of the revised Comprehensive Plan is available online, and also from 8:15 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Department of Community Planning and Building.

Persons requiring accommodations for the January 28 public hearing should call 540-372-1179, at least five days in advance.
