VDOT Press Release

FREDERICKSBURG – (5 p.m.) Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are actively engaged in plowing and treating snow covered roads in the 14-county Fredericksburg District.

Road conditions in the Fredericksburg and Northern Neck areas including Interstate 95 are reported as moderate to severe, meaning that snow and ice are on major portions of the roadway.

Minor to moderate conditions are reported in the Middle Peninsula area, however conditions may deteriorate before the storm ends later tonight.

Motorists are encouraged to stay off the roads until conditions improve.

VDOT’s snow removal priorities are the interstate, primary and high-volume secondary routes first followed by subdivision streets and other secondary routes. Snow removal operations will continue around the clock, in 12-hour shifts until conditions improve.

Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing tonight into Friday morning.

Road conditions and other real-time travel information can be found on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia.
