An interfaith National Day of Prayer observance will be held from 12 – 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, in Fredericksburg’s Historic Market Square, behind Old Town Hall at 1001 Princess Anne St.

Sheikh Rashid Lamptey from the Islamic Ummah of Fredericksburg, Rabbi Jeremy Weisblatt of Beth Sholom Temple, and Pastor Larry Haun of Fredericksburg Baptist Church will have seven minutes each to offer scripture from their respective traditions, a brief meditation on the theme of “How Covenant Forms Community,” and a prayer.

“After those three, those gathered will observe a few minutes of silent prayer, a testimony to how we can all stand together in the mystery of silence,” said Joe Hensley, rector of St. George’s Episcopal Church, who is serving as host and moderator of the event.

In case of rain, the Interfaith National Day of Prayer gathering will be held in St. Geroge’s Sydnor Hall, 905 Princess Anne St.
