“Our packages have arrived,” reads a Facebook post from Blue Star Mother’s of Fredericksburg Chapter 4. The nonprofit spent the fall collecting supplies to fill 400 care packages for U.S. service members still deployed overseas.

“Thank you very much for the care package!” one recipient wrote. “It really brought a smile to my face, the letters from the kids were really touching and made me feel even prouder of serving My country, I loved every item in the care package!! You guys rock!!”

“There are some troops that have no access to necessities,” said Blue Star Mom Linda Clevenger, who serves as vice president of the service organization. “The only items they receive are the items sent from home,” she said. “There are still thousands of troops deployed who can use a care package.”

Blue Star Mothers of Fredericksburg VA4 is a nonprofit organization of women who have children who have served in the military during a time of war.
